What we Do

From a garden pizza oven to a farm-based operation, Spiced Sussex has stayed true to its roots.

Founded by Ben in 2020 during the COVID era, this story starts with an international electronic music artist who suddenly found himself grounded. Unable to travel and perform, Ben turned to his first passion: food. With a deep love for chili and open-fire cooking, and a mission to craft a Naga based hot sauce that even the everyday palate could enjoy, Spiced Sussex was born.

How It Began

The journey began in a small pizza oven in a Brighton Garden. By the fourth batch, Spiced Sussex had already gained traction and caught the eye of Infinity Foods, a highly respected Wholesale Distributor. They became the first to sell the sauce, marking a significant milestone.

Orders Stacked Up

As orders stacked up in the summer of 2021, Ben's dad, George, handcrafted a fully functioning outdoor kitchen at the rear of the garden. This new setup featured a commercial-sized, custom-built wood oven and earned a 5-star hygiene rating from Brighton City Council. It was the perfect upgrade to keep up with the growing demand.

Where we are now

Fast forward to 2025, and Spiced Sussex has taken another exciting step forward. Due to increasing demand, part of the production has moved to a rural Sussex farm. Here, the sauce is roasted using wood collected from the farm, additionally, plans are in place to grow the fresh ingredients on site for use in the sauce, aligning with the companies passion for sustainability.
